Homemade salad dressings can be stored in the refrigerator for a day without any problems. Save time in preparation and preparation

Farmed salmon from supermarkets and discounters can contain high amounts of the hazardous substance ethoxyquin. That reports the NDR magazine "market". In a laboratory test on behalf of the consumer magazine, the substance was found in all eight products purchased at random.
The substance makes feed durable and, according to the report, apparently gets into the fish in this way. The chemical was also used for plant protection for a long time. However, it has been banned for this purpose in the European Union (EU) since 2011, as there are doubts about the safety of ethoxyquin.
Maximum amount for meat exceeded – there are no limit values for fish
The samples included fresh farmed salmon fillet, smoked farmed salmon and frozen farmed salmon fillet from Rewe, Aldi, Real and Edeka. The test results for all samples are therefore above the general maximum amount set for ethoxyquin, for example for meat. However, there are no maximum residue levels for fish at EU level. From a purely legal point of view, the evidence is therefore not objectionable. In addition, a certain amount of the substance is permitted as an additive in feed.
DNA damage and changes in liver metabolism
"There is evidence that ethoxyquin can cause DNA damage in animal studies" said the toxicologist Edmund Maser from Kiel’s Christian-Albrechts-Universität to the NDR. Wild salmon also endangered in Germany
The migration paths of the fish are blocked, for example, by hydropower plants. The water quality has also deteriorated, says Phillip Kanstiger from the Center for Marine Protection at WWF. In Germany there are currently no self-sustaining stocks. In the past, the big fish swam in almost all estuaries to the North and Baltic Seas, says the expert. Today the salmon has almost disappeared here. However, consumers can protect the endangered stocks by purchasing salmon from certified aquaculture.
Better to use salmon from environmentally friendly aquaculture
